係咪一定要選以英文為重的幼稚園才有助升上英文小學呢?

出色的英文小學不多, 但若想有較大的機會升上呢 d 英文小學, 係咪選擇以英文/語文教育為重的幼稚園會比較好呢?

CKY嘅interview都幾全面,1st round據亞囡所講,係分3間課室進行:

第一間 -- Group interaction,小朋友要聽native teachers指令玩遊戲,相信係從中觀察專注力、手眼協調及行為;

第二間 -- 唔記得1:1定係2個老師:1,問亞囡約10條英文題及幾條中文題,評估學術上、溝通及語言能力;

第三間 -- 填色

全程一小時,小朋友入去前有張遊戲card比老師寫分,完interview後交回老師。

到2nd interview時,3個小朋友一組見校長,傾下計,而每個小朋友都給予一本英文圖書,校長邀請小朋友揀出自己最喜愛嘅一頁,然後讀出嚟。

係咪一定要以英文為重嘅幼稚園先考到CKY就見人見致,我有朋友仔仔讀國際學校,第一round都失敗咗。但考得CKY嘅小朋友,需要有簡單嘅閱讀能力及閱讀興趣去配合其圖書教學。

另外,英文小學如SFA,都好喜歡收根德園嘅學生。

Yes, learn from watching TV.  But, simple sentences e.g. I've forgot;  See you later;  etc.

For CKY, the kids are invited to a session to play/interact with English teachers whereby their behaviors will be observed/assessed.  A certain level of English proficiency will definitely give the kid an advantage.

For other schools including DBSPD and SPCCPS, I doubt they would require the kids to 'converse' in English, there may be other ways to assess their competency though.

係呀,CKY嘅英文題目都好basic,只係主要以廣東話interview嘅小學會問1-2題英文題目,而CKY問咗約10題,而其中一題我覺得比較難(唔知亞囡有冇報錯料)。

I think only CKY really want bilingual ready kids as their direction is very much bilingual.   

The questions are very basic, I remember my girl telling me she was asked to name colours - kindergarten questions.  

You have to remember that English is essentially a 2nd language as such the content taught by kinders will be very different.  Unlike, Cantonese as a first language you would expect higher content.

亞囡之前參與嘅小學面試當中,除CKY,SFA及SMCE有比較重嘅英文環節外,其他小學都以廣東話面試。以廣東話面試嘅小學,就算問英文題都不外乎"What's your name?","How old are you?"....呢d簡單題目。

我記得女拔張申請表有問小朋友嘅first language,亦講明除非小朋友嘅first language係英文或PTH,如果唔係就通常以廣東話面試。

所以好多小學面試未必會考小朋友嘅英文程度,知嘅只會係幼稚園成績表上睇到嘅grade或家長交比學校嘅証書。而小學最主要睇嘅(綜合同學仔媽咪嘅意見)係小朋友性格及臨場表現。

凡聘有外籍教師的英文幼稚園，英文定貴很多，用者自付，所以未必適合所有家長，而且學校真的通常已假定家長會搞掂。

不一定 － 我個仔去年在兩家都是多人爭的直資學校中， 一句英文也不用說！

對某些名校來說， 英文好（最起碼口語）已是假定家長已經自動波搞掂

係咪呢個原因, 所以有d英文小學的直屬KG會用中文教學, 而非英文. 佢哋都係期望我哋家長自己係外面搵補習.
如果堅持唔係外面補習嘅, 會唔會好難跟得上?

Absolutely agree "英文係'浸'出黎", 所以比小朋友讀用英文教的KG很重要, 此外亦要看同學們是否也用英文溝通, 如是的話則事平功倍。
