Help! My daughter got into both kindergardens. Which one will you choose? She got into the Putonghua/English medium for Victoria and SKH. Really frustrated which school to choose... Can you all give me some comments on both schools?
My daughter is now in K1 at Victoria Kornhill and has been accepted by both Victoria Belcher's and SIS, would like to see if you have any experience/comment to share....thanks!
Thanks Charlotte_mom... looks a bit scary to stay at Victoria if they don't accpet their own students, plus having to forfeit to apply other schools is nonsense. Is there any way that we can both apply VSA and local schools? Seems like....hmmm....SKH is better then, am i right?
Still it seems a rather expensive back-up plan!
If you really want to go to VSA, then of course this is not a problem.
But if you treat it as a back-up, then you should be aware that most of the top schools will not have announced their results before mid-October.
In fact, most will not have even finished all the interviews by that time!
So you will have to pay the 2 months school fees (?>$15000) in order to hold onto the VSA place & wait for the other schools.
If you do get into a top school, you will then have to 'happily' wave goodbye to the 2 months school fees.

Just received the circular. I think the situation has changed this year. K2 students may apply now and results available in June. You have to pay 2 months school fees to commit by mid Oct 09 - If you ...

Victoria - you can refer to the primary allocation which is available on their website.
Another advantage for Victoria is that you always have VSA to fall back on. I think it is a good school too ...
I am afraid you can't treat VSA as a back-up plan these days.
Last year, Victoria kindergarten kids were told that they have to forfeit applying to other schools if they want to be considered for VSA.
If they apply to other schools, then they wil have to apply to VSA just like any other outsiders and will not be given any priority.

I believe academically both are on par, but my preference would be SKH because it has a christian background and tends to provide better moral education. As for Victoria, I've joined its Play Group, seems a bit commercial to me (just my personal feeling).
Agree that if you're aiming at international primary schools, Victoria might be more suitable; but if you are aiming for traditional ones, my bet would be SKH might give your daughter a better edge.

Thanks for your help! But other than Eng, how is your girl doing in Vic and how is your friend's daughter doing now at SKH?
Hope it's not too late to reply to you on this topic. My girl who is in Victoria K1 now. I have gone thru' the same situations like you as she got in for both Vict & SKH too. But eventually I have decided to stay in Vict for her K1 as I believe she could build up better her language skills. The other friend of mine has changed her kid to SKH from Vict in K1. But I heard she complaint that there is not much English lessons in SKH.... so it really depend what you want in returns. hope this helps <..>
