母親是Canadian (Non-resident), 女兒返加國讀書是否收本地人學費?

母親是加拿大移民， 但報了"Non-resident"，住在HK。

女兒在HK出世，已取 Canadian Citizenship。

如他日女兒返 Canada (Toronto) 讀書，請問 :


(1) High School (Public School) - 是否免學費？

(2) High School (Publiic School) - 是否有住址證明 (如租 Condo 住)，學校一定要收我女兒?

(3) University 是否收 "本地學生" 學費? 還是收 Visa student 學費?

If parents are Canadian and the children have claimed citizenship then they are Canadians which do not require to pay oversea rates for education in Canada. Unless they have not obtained their citizenship at birth, then you'll need to revisit the goverment policies there. However, from my understanding, if the parent is a Canadian, then the kids will automatically be a Canadian as long as they go back to Canada before a certain age.. recalling it was at age of 12 but definitely needs clarification. If you are interested, pls visit the Canadian citizenship website and give them a call. They are usually very receptive. :)

Your situation is same as me. I want to send my daughters to Canada in this September. But this time I will apply through agent in HK. The agent said , if non resident is difficult to apply in some education district board.  
This time I will looking for a home stay family . And the agent will arrange the school and everything for my kids

If your son goes back to study, as I know, you will be considered resident as you have family tie (your son) living there.

(private school)-我相信不用家長陪同 la !,因為你不是用政府資源ma,等同外國學生自己交學費,理應沒有任何問題.

How about if only my son got Canadian passport as he is borned at Canada, and parents are not Canadian citizens,
can mum stay at Canada/Toronoto during his study ?
Does he need to pay school fee for high school and
unversity ?

Any know what if only mom goes with the kids to study in Toronto?  If then, can we pay local fee only?

The problem is if your daughter come back to Canada, then your "non-resident" status may not be retained because you make a  "residential ties"  by having dependent lived in Canada. Then you have to file tax form. Your daughter does not have to pay school fee but you may need to pay tax for Canada government even you live in HK.

If 父母 declare as non-resident, they fill a form so that they do not need to pay tax.  The school therefore may charge extra for students whose parents are out of the country.

Seems that York Region may be stricter. Not sure about Toronto District School Board.

different expectation.  when you are university age kid you are supposed to be on your own.  you don't live with your parents anymore so that is okay.  only grade schools.
