3 years ago, my daughter & son started their swimming course when they were 4.5 & 3 respectively. I found the instructors were professional. They first started with a toddler's course with a group of 3 kids, the instructors were very patient, they used different tools to lead them kicking the water, putting their heads into the water, blowing bubbles ... that kind of basic swimming skills. Now they have some younger instructors, not those who taught my kids; but when I saw how they led the little ones, I found they were as good if not better. Some of the kids were afraid of water/stranger or they wanted to look for their mothers ... they kept crying but the instructor used different methods to comfort them.
When they passed the test, then they could promote to "Beginner 1" class which was a group of 4 kids. I concerned the group size very much. As my kids didn't know how to swim, if the class was too big, then the instructor couldn't take care of them. Also, I didn't think one-on-one teaching method was suitable for my kids as my daughter was also afraid of water when she was small. If it's an one-on-one, she would quit easily; but in a class, if she found other classmates could do, then she would try. Also, the instructor used different tools to attract the kids e.g. the swimming ducks.
My daughter tried another swimming club when she went to primary but I found this one is better (in terms of the teaching method), so she joined it back.
The swimming club they are attending is located at Kowloon Bay called Dal(x). It's an indoor swimming pool with warm water. Parents can take a seat near the swimming pool (quite stuffy during summer) so that you know their progress. My kids continue the class even during winter time.
