Re: 請問跑馬地聖保祿係band幾?
ptsamm:
Most of the children from famous schools are indeed quite cheerful and happy (except for my two cousins from Sacred Heart). I don't think that they are being oppressed by HW at all. Once you get used to it, you won't feel tired or frustrated. I guess this has something to do with the parent's education, too. When I was young, my mom often told me that I was "not the one with the most works."
"Look at the girls from DGS. Look at the boys from St. Paul Co-ed. You'll see you are much fortunate than them because you have less to do.." said my mom. Well... it certainly sounds a bit tricky. However, when I was young, I just trusted my mother wholeheartedly, so I never felt that I had lots of work....
Are children from famous schools polite? This is another tricky question. Again, I would say that it's how the parents teach them that really matters. As a matter of fact, many children from famous schools have very dedicated parents. Therefore, many of them can have as much attention as they want. When things go against their ways, some of these children may be hard to handle. (That's probably the reason why the teachers may sometimes find children from famous school hard to manage.) Another possibility might be that many of the children from famous schools are gifted/talented kids. Again, managing gifted children is a form of art that many teachers have not yet acquired.
To be honest, I don't know whether putting kids into famous schools really "nurture" them into great people. After all, the schools have chosen some of the better ones to begin with. When choosing a school, the parents should not just consider the fame of the school. Rather, the most important question is whether or not the school will help their child reaching his/her potential. Some people just can't study in St. Paul Co-ed if they hate homework and love individual thinking. My friend is one of the group. He is certainly a gifted person, yet his parents just decided to send him to regular highschool in Vancouver. The reason is that my friend liked to solve math problems on his own, and putting him in an elite highschool might kill away much of his time. At the end, it's only in university that he joined the elite math program. |
