Sorry I don't know why i cannot type in chinese.
I just want to ask if there is some expericeced parents here can help me.
The case is that my daughter is a Catholic, but I want to apply St.Paul Co-ed and DGJS for her (P1 next year).
I want to ask how to fill the form on the religion column.
Should I fill in Catholic or just leave i  blank?
Some people told me that if I fill in Catholic, that will less her chance.
What can I do? Any people can help me her?
Actully, I don't mind Christian or Catholic schoo as long as it is a good school.

Re: v?p@vQ

I will simply fill in "Catholic" as I don't think it is correct for a Catholic to hide your religion just for the purpose of applying schools. If the school rejects the application because my kid is a Catholic, don't think this is the right school for me.

Re: v?p@vQ

絕對同意。
如果你女兒是出色的,唔會因為咁唔收佢,如果係咁係咩教學理念?
我教友的兒子入了St. Paul's Co-ed,佢都表明是天主教徒。

Re: v?p@vQ

But some people said these schools will accept the children with the same region first. That means my daughter  will have less chane. You know, the Chirstrians again the Catholic so much.
I don't mean I want to hide my religion. What I want is to get the better chance to apply for the school.
Do you think I will leave it blank or fill in Catholic will get the better chance?
I know some of the Catholic schools are very good, but most of them need to "Lucky draw".  Since I am not living in the good school net, I don't have confidence to get a place in the good catholic shool.

Re: v?p@vQ

If that's the case, the privilege will still goes to Protestant first, right?
So no means to hide your religion, as you said before, unless you are a protestant then you'll get a better chance.
If you are a catholic, you should trust GOD will get the best for you. An elite school doesn't mean a perfect choice for your kid.
So, put your heart at rest, don't put to much stress on your kid, let her perform the best during the interview, and GOD will do the rest.

BTW, you got 20 pts at the first round and you already have a better chance than other kids holding 15 or even 10 pts. At least you apply for Catholic school you'll have the chance to draw. For applying elite catholic schools like MCS, MSS, etc, there is no chance at all for 15 pts or below.

Re: v?p@vQ

of course i will not tell them that i am a  protestant.
I asked God how to fill the admission forms many times, but God didn't answer me.

"not telling doesn't mean deniable"
do you know what i mean.?

Anyway, I wll listen for more opinions.

How can 'pretend'  to be a 'Catholic'!
They have a registrar.
Besides, they will ask you for the certificate.

Re: v?p@vQ

Alanhoky,
I think you got a misunderstanding.
Of course I will not tell them that I am a Protestant.
My question is that -
"Leave the religion column blank or fill in Catholic will have the better chane?"

Re: v?p@vQ

如果你認為沒問題你都唔會係度問人喇。
寫定唔寫無人知,你信咩宗教學校都唔知架,只有天主知。
道不同不相為謀,主佑!

Re: v?p@vQ

Perhaps, I should change the way I ask the question.

For sure, they will accept the Protestant (Christian) first.

They will accept the non-religion or the Catholic the second?

Re: v?p@vQ

我諗佢地一定收基督徒先。
至於無宗教及天主教﹐對佢地來講無分別。即是機會一樣。

Re: v?p@vQ

Spicysauce,

Where did you read it that St Paul's co-ed will 'for sure' accept Protestant first (I think it's Anglican to be more precise)? I read an article in Mingpo recently (posted by one of parent in BK) that the school places 75% on interview performance. The rest will be school reports, ECAs, religion, whether siblings in the same school, whether parents are old boy/girls...etc.

If the above is true, religion is NOT the deciding factor.

If you are a true believer, how can you deny your religion? Surely you are not one of those parents who arrange for their child's baptism so that he/she can score an extra 5 points?

Have faith in God and you will be blessed! Keep praying and stand by your faith!

Re: v?p@vQ

I just wonder if you leave it "blank", how should your kid answer if being questioned about his religion during interview?  Can he say,"Oh, as per my parent, I trust the Catholic god only after school hours and on holidays!"

Re: v?p@vQ

Well... "hiding" on purpose is already a kind of "deny".  You feel shameful to admit you are a Catholic.

You said you asked God and he didn't reply to you.  In my point of view, he should have already reply to you.  Only that, you might not want to listen.  You only hear the voice of yourself, "I only want my girl to be in that school."

Think about it if I am right!     Sorry, if I have expressed my point too straight that may have offence you. :-|

Re: v?p@vQ

Spicysauce,

One more thing I would like to say is:

Firstly, not all Christian is against Catholic, there are only SOME.

Secondly, if you suspected that the Christian school you would like to apply is strongly against Catholic, how can you put your child in that school.     You want her to hide her identity as a Catholic for 6 years, or even suffering from hatred.  My brother has experienced before, always surrounded by Christian that want to brainwash him Catholic is an untrue religion that lead him away from God.  It's very very annoying & with much sufferings.  However, it's only depends on who is your neighbors; me also in the same school never faced this kind of challenge.

God bless you!  You really need a lot more Grace from the Lord to help you make decision in your daily life.
