I won't comment the deposit is a big issue or not.
This year is double cohorts, double workloads for admission offices of university, they must stagger the 3-year and 4-year programs, we can also check the exam time of HKALE moves earlier than previous years to facilitate all exam are smoothly arranged.
Delay the admission process will affect the term start time and the media and student will complain one way or the other.
Also, PRC's exam and admission schedule are not the same as HK, if the media's complaints are valid, so JUPAS need to entertain other early admission and main round of UCAS and other countries' admission. If they aim for PRC, they can move on, why holding the places to affect other local students' right and affect the admission process.
Nowadays, media is too causal to write an article without in-depth research, just interview kids, the weakest and most innocent to make the stories catching..... Ignore the other stakeholders difficulties.
Why they don't write the story about Early Entry and Fast Track, just interview and no offers, why? Because those kids are cream of the cream, not drawing more reading (mwp not many readers is true).... I am disappointed by most media.
