| I couldn't agree more with what you said, I have seem them in my time in the UK. Except in the old days students aren't as well off as they are now. And not much entertainments then. 
 But you've to understand not all students can enter state schools, only those with a british passport can do so. Given the chance most HK parents would send their kids to good state schools, think of the money they can save!
 Instead most go to the popular boarding schools their agents/friends recommend, where there's always a large community of Chinese students. My niece is currently in 6th form in one of the top grammar schools, there are still many HK students and speck Cantonese among themselves, except that these kids are very smart & bright, and their use of English isn't a problem. They know they are there to study and get good grades.
