We have gone to the school also. Do you know that how many applicants at the end?

We'd never seen the interviewer to write anything or mark on the paper. And questions were found simple, how the teacher to make judgement, right?

Registration for successful applicants is scheduled on 4 & 5 November which will be well-ahead of announcement of 自行收生.
If you're the lucky parents, will you enrol your child with GT without waiting for 自行收生 result.
I think Headmaster Chan really want 100% committed parents !!!

I dare not to say it is fair or not.

If you're parents and have a chance to get a seat in 自行收生, you may decline GT's offer but will end up with nothing.

Wouldn't that be better if registration deadline set after 自行收生 so that a choice can be made by parents? From the school standpoint, GT should not have any problem in getting enough students based on the vast number of kids sitting for the interview.

The panel teacher interviewed us did keep writing down notes during the 15-min interview. Believed the part at the children side be more important to make their decision.

Was there at 6:30 and saw label assigned with ~600. Less applicants than expected.

If you considered from the Principal's perspective, I prefer to accept those who are definitely sure to choose this school (accept GT's teaching concept and consider this is the right school for their kid), not for those chance taker.

GT is a different kind of school not comparable with other traditional schools. It is rediculous for parents on one hand considered GT is suitbale for their kid, on the the other hand considered other traditional school (if luckily accepted their kid) should have priority and willing to give up GT.

It is also not fair to say that the school should have plenty of other applicants waiting lar and no loss for the school. They have the responsibility to team up the best selected students (with parents who are sure to support this schools)....... this is fundamentally important for the school. i.e. With full support from parents from beginning to the end.

For those chance taker who are unsure, rather let them give-up earlier for the benefit of the school and other parents who really want their kid to study at GT....

Agree with Thinker that GT is different in many perspectives from traditional schools and one can't compare an orange with an apple.

Assume 優才 accept my kid in early November, does I need to undertake to give up the school in Government First Round Allocation.

How if in mid-November I am successful in applying the government in First Round could I cancel the place in 優才 and register the government school?

Yes.  You have to give up the school in First Round Allocation because GT is DSS.  You can cancel place in GT but you cannot use this as the reason to get the government place.

Dear Thinker

I agreed that the objective for GT is to have 100% support from parents, sharing the same vision and I am sure that some parents won't be 'side-tracked' by other offers.  But for, at least, me the non-'Gifted Talented' parent, I would rather have more supporting in making the decision.  If the enrolment deadline was set on 16Nov I think I shall be more comfortable in any decision made. Anyway I should not worry as the competition is so keen.  Just leave it up to those 'Gifted Talented' parents (or they just don't have to worry as they have 100% commitment and it is unfair if their kids are not being selected).  Good luck !!!

Sorry, I can't quite understand what you are trying to say.

Put it in simple question:

If GT give your kid an offer, would you accept it or not, if you have to decide before 16 Nov.

If not why?

I think you should think what is suitable for your kid.

My son was interviewed on last Saturday at 4:00pm. I asked GT the same question before and they replied , "no"

Because this was the first time for interview, I think my son's performance is alright but he forgot to say thank you to the teacher, so it may be.........
anyway, for those questions were quite general & listed as followings:
Some playing first & individually to answer.
1) Can you tell the name of your kindergarten?
2)What is the name of this school?
3) Where will you go during holiday(something like that)?
4) Some Chinese reading.  ( But my son replied that he didn't know) :cry:
5) Who is your best friend?

BTW, anyone know the result for past P.6 students because TKO is not a good location for secondary school net.

Did the interview hold in English or in Chinese?

You can read the P.6 result in their web. Quite good but do not know the exact number that send to those secondary.

My son said this was hold in Chinese.

BTW, I still cannot find out the info of P.6 result although I entered GT website.

If I refered to the leaflet, GT claimed that more than 80% to English Secondary School & including those famous school. I wonder this figure only.

I think I saw the same as you in GT's web site. No specific figure show how many students promote to such famous secondary school. But my first impression for its web site is that why it is not in English?
