Re: 請教:崇真及靈糧

i have seen the websites, pls give me your personal opinions and advice thanks
Sunflower, sorry I am not familiar with 崇真.
Personally, I believe in 活動教學 and I am too pro-靈糧堂 just after two rounds of contacting with the school -- the first time is in school interview and second time in parents' meeting. Additionally, one of my very respectful colleague in my company (she is our legal counsellor approaching the age of retirement) also had her girl (who is now a junior doctor) studied in this kinder --- these are reasons why I want to keep my mouth shut since I am afraid I am too biased。
Personally, I strongly believe that all-round grooming is more important than purely academic and literacy training. Everyday, I could see how traditional education had drag our society behind. The collegues who work with me might be able to write correct correspondences, but they are used to hit walls. It seems our successors perform so bad in creativity. They are lack of problem detecting and problem solving skills.
These few days, I am just reading a book by Glenn Doman - 如何令寶寶更聰明。Some of the points I concur no more are (i) Children like learning. Child don't exactly just like playing. They play because they could learn from the process. (2) Happiness is the key to enable kids to learn. Additionally, I had a very solid believe that 終生學習動力 is of ultimate importance. I am one of those Beijing Ducks from the traditional education system. I still could remember I swore never to take any academic course again at the time I got my Degree. Today, I still feel pity for it. I really don't have any more interest in those academic games....anyway.. Get back to the topic.
As I understand from my senior colleague and the videos the school showed me in the parents' meeting, children in 靈糧堂 play everyday. The teachers are enthusiatic but real busy. Lot of 教具 to prepare. e.g. the children might simulate how to take MTR train and learn about the routes in school, elder children are trained to take care of smaller children. Kids are required to do some rountine by themselves everyday to train their 自理能力. They enjoyed reading books to teachers, staff and even maids around in the school as they will get a stamp after each reading. I could see that the school has blended learning in the playing activities.
Parents will always worry that children from 靈糧堂 will be poor in English/writing/literacy and become hard to pick up once they get into traditional primary school. While on the other hand, 靈糧堂 did show us the reverse that their kids could write. They showed us some of the 作文 which are interesting and good.
Whatever the case is. For me, I will believe in myself more than the school. I will not put all responsibility in the Kindergarten. Afterall, Kindergarten time only took only half day. My daughter will start K1 in 靈糧堂 this coming September. I have already started playing cards with my child on recognizing Chinese characters. I am a working mom and there is really very insufficient time for me to spend with my daughter. Even though the pace is slow, it works well.
Again, my view is only my view. Thank you for allowing me to share. I am very happy to discuss with parents who had done their homework and are eager to give the best for their kids. |
