chunhei,
It's normal that parents worry about their children being guinea pigs. Every new school faces the same problem, GT is not let alone.
GT's secondary section is only 2 years+ old, now offer to G9 only. The first batch of HKCE graduate would be at 2009. But I am fully confident GT Secondary school would be a huge success.
The first clue is the recent success in the IGCSE exam taken by the G8 students. If they can score high in a exam targeted for 3 years' older student, I would be surprised if they can't excel 3 years later in the HKCE.
I have heard story about a parent send her elder son, who graduated from GT G6, to a elite traditional secondary school. Her son still excel in his new school but the school is so different from GT's open, happy learning atmoshere that her son lost interest to go to school.
The parent is so regret that, without second thought, she send her younger son, also a GT primary graduate, to GT's G7 with great success.
Last Saturday, I attended the Secondary School's admission seminar. Among others, 2 current G8 students are being invited to share their school life in GT. They, one boy and one girl, speak so fluent English that, in my opinion, is in par with International School standard. ( Though still with HK accent - like Anson Chan ?)
Let us fully support the school in order to achieve - Joy & Excellence.
