With the new BK it's been quite difficult to find many old posts to continue.....but as we're starting with the new school life with PKC (my son will start G1 in Aug 2007), I'd like to recreate this for more discussion!!

New parents feel free to continue with this. Really looking forward to meeting you soon!!

Can u explain more about this school?

Any comment even good and no good.

Hw do u think the coming year is difficult to apply also(08-09) ?

Any tips for us at interview?

PKC

I have not started with the school, but will be this coming Sept as G1. We went through the 2nd interview to get in and we're very grateful to be accepted. If you like to learn more about the school's direction please visit their website but I personally believe in the school's initiatives and esepcially the Principal.

I think DSS schools are getting more awareness and even for new schools such as PKC. I would only imagine it's getting more difficult to get in year by year when more students are applying. Last year there were over 1000 to get the 120 seats.

agree. it looks more and more difficult to get into the DSS school in the coming days. just the old path in England while the "private school" overtake the public school some 50 years ago.

yeah.....i think those were the days when our boys were called up for 2nd interview and pumped our blood pressure up to 250 per minute

..... my boy did not make it... he was not pick up by PK.....

Oh, then is your kid finally settled in a school you like? Central allocation or you did find another school before that?

arrangments has been done and my boy has got a school place somewhere else. still, PK is my favourite and when i tell my wife that I want to further my application in PK, for the first time, i noticed that 亞水太原來武功蓋世.....

PK is a good school, exceptionally good.

Our decision joining PKC was also tough because we were choosing between 2 DSSs (besides giving up the allotment to a local school - band one and very sought after in local areas). We do hope to realize all the benefits we've been hearing about the school. We have a lot of confidence with the Principal and the teachers we have seen and met. I particularly like the idea of wearing t-shirts as regular uniform! Really thoughtful for the kids.

Finally good to see PKC parents! It seems that PKC discussion disappeared for a while!

I am not a PKC parent... i just sent the application this june to apply for coming Sept G1. Of course no response! Actually my girl is studying in IS. So I always want to know the english level of student / putonghua level, too.

What language does the student generally speak in school among each other?

Is there an English-speaking class teacher for each class?

Sorry for many qs. Since it's hard to find PKC related topic here.

Hello, I am not yet a current parent of PKC, so I cannot comment on the standard, etc. What I like about the school, is that the dedication of teachers, and the system they put in place, such as emphasis on Chinese, reading system, encouragement of activities, etc. We attended the parents' day and were explained the daily routine. They do not allow junk food to be brought as snacks (very thoughtful) and had arranged various break-out times during the day. Everyday can start with a 15-20 min reading session. I believe building up the reading skills is really a fundamental step.

So why would you like your kid to move from IS stream back to a more local stream?

New Parents at PKC

Dear All

Not sure if it works here to "collect" some new parents at PKC....but I'm going to give it a shot again!

Now G1 has just started the first orientation week and so far (OK only 2 days) my son has been enjoying! They said it is "formal dress" today so I have not asked for how the day was yet. Any parents who may know and can share?

Next week will be the real one! It's really a whole new experience for the kids....we enjoyed alot, and laughed when ordering the lunch boxes!:D
