My friend ask me to find her daughter a good piano teacher, but she think $400 per 45 mins is too expensive for beginner. (I heard the teacher will charge more if she teach at your place)  My daughter used to study with this teacher and I think the price is quite reasonable.

I know some piano teachers who charge much more than that and they charge basically the same from beginner to diploma...

I am just a bit confused...

How much is expensive??

How to tell if a piano teacher is worth the money??

I paid around HKD 625-45min for 4 lesson in the music center. And now I have hire a private for my kids, price are the same. But I can waste the transportation fee.

Both my kids are beginner.

I think the prices will differ from different district and the qualification of the teacher. Both I and my daughter go to piano shop to learn beginner course. My daughter's fee (beginner, at Tuen Mun) is $350/4 lesson (30 min) = $175/HR. My fee (Grade 1, there is no beginner class, at HK island) is $475/4 lesson (30min) = $237.5 /HR.
Both our teachers are completed grade 8 exam.

If $450/45 MIN (one lesson) for which grade student, or may be the teacher got many professional certificates.
May be consider a beginner just need a teacher with grade 8 is enough.
