Hi JamMai,

Hi I am Jammai's hb,
Do you mind to share which Int school the classmate of your boy is from?    Please understand that I am not trying to be a copycat, but it will gives us a little clearer direction in our consideration. In fact we will encounter new opinions and new ideas everytime we discuss the topic with family and friends which gives us big headache.   I have a relative who goes to Kingston kinda (mummy speaks english) and that I can tell that is a good kinda but I cannot secure a good primary or secondary path from Kingston unless you tell me "your" classmate actually comes from Kingston. (just joking )

Re: DBSPD會收國際students嗎?

JamMai,

Yes, DBSPD has one international class at each level.  This is especially for those kids who do not speak or write Chinese.  For school curriculum, all are the same except the Chinese subject, they take French.

Re: DBSPD會收國際students嗎?

JamMai:

Don't worry too much about which kinder your kid is from.  In fact, the interview counts more than anything else.  If you really wish to get into this school, international kinder is not a bad idea because the school really looks for those who are willing to speak English (and be able to use the language fluently to express themselves.)

So far, I've seen some common traits among both students AND parents from this school:

Parents:
VERY VERY supportive.  They actually KNOW their children's weakness and are willing to talk about this openly.  Of course, such weakness does not include rudeness or misconduct.  (It's usually about learning habit and style).
Before you apply for the school, try to think about this.    After all, the school wants parents who are actually working together with them.   Imagine, if you child is reluctant to speak to someone (ie: teacher/friend/other adults), how would you react?  Would you encourage him to speak up or would just let your child act his own way?
If someone asked your child a question, and he answered it incorrectly, how would you react to it?

Children:
Is he pleasant to teach? Can he be a good team player? How does he react to difficulties?
Sometimes, even I was stunned by boys from this school.  While some of them manage to find reasons to tell me why grammar is interesting, and accept other's criticism in a very positive manner, others would "ENDURE" grammar to the greatest extent so that they'd manage to finish the school's requirement......

Of course, we're talking about kids of 5/6.  Despite its reputation, students from this school still have quite a lot problems in English (Don't know about math because I do not teach this subject). So I guess EQ skills count more than anything else during the interview.

The school's syllabus for English is also very close to that of the US standard. Bascially, you can buy references from the US (or sometimes Singapore) and you'll see that the school is following a very systematic track.

Do you think the international kinder in which your child will attend can nurture these qualities?  If so, then you don't need to worry too much.
