you can go to the public library and see which one your kid likes before you buy one at those big bookstore, because the bookstore they usually wrap them up and you can't read them before you buy!
I like all the books by Usborne. But you should check if their versions of encyclopedia is suitable for your kids' age. They have different variation of encyc.

highly recommed series by USBORNE. My 2 girls love the books published by this house so much that it's on their christmas wish list . . . a story book by usborne.
