I have two children, one is a bookworm, almost eating all kind of books, but the second one is not like that, quite headache in finding interesting readings for her, of course i have to overcome my own bias on princess books (now i am more open, but still want her to read more books out of Disney stories)

just has this post to link with other mums and dad on sharing good readings for kids at this level?

For boys:

My son used to read a kid's newspaper Daily 7 and Daily 10, quite good ones..

When he is in p1, I found some easy to read books (without picture) from Junie B Jones series and My weird school series, he had a lots of fun by reading these "lowB" stories (as he said), as these stories talk about primary school life using kids' perspective. But my daughter now is totally out of interest on these stories..

For girls, please help to recommend good and interesting as well as fun stories???

Have you tried Dr. Seuss's book series? I like Dr. Seuss's books, and my son enjoys as well.　Or you can check this lady's blog, her name is 汪培珽。She is Taiwanese, has 2 kids （one boy and one girl). She wrote some books about the experience of rising her kids. and one of the books is "餵故事書長大的孩子“。If you go to her blog, she has recommendations on the books for different ages. if you are interested, you can also get the books from her. I have not tried to buy books from her, but will read her blog from time to time.. her blog is：

Any comments on the Ladybird Key words with Petre and Jane series?

- for my son, it sounds a bit boring, but for my girl, it's more easier for her to complete the readings with readable words..

- how about your experience?

請問你女兒幾歲? 是要選一些同樣是沒圖畫的章節小說嗎? 還是簡單一點的也可以?

最近我的兒子迷上了Usborne的書, 大部份都可以在圖書館借到:

1. Young Reading Series 1 & 2
(裏邊有不少都適合女孩子)

2. Beginners (科普書, 用字簡單但內容豐富)

另外像大部份家長喜歡的Oxford Reading Tree, 她喜歡嗎? 不喜歡看書的話, 可以試試Talking Stories. 可在圖書館借到, search:
書名關鍵詞 = Oxford reading tree software

其他還有Curious George, Arthur等系列, 我兒子之前也很喜歡.

對了, 還有Oxford reading Tree的All stars系列. 是介乎簡短有插畫的故事與章節小說中間的程度, 我的孩子也十分喜歡.

只有Pack 1 和Pack 1a是有少量彩色插圖, 其他是黑白圖.
