i'm also but opposite to you,
am in york (i applied am) & pm in stafford.(i said will consider pm but applied am also)
but i never decide how to choose.
and many mummys who said the enlish enviroment in stafford is rather best than york.

My son got both AM offers. I paid the deposit for York already. Still considering for Stafford cos some mami said its English is so good. But I also worry that Stafford is a rather new school. When our kids apply for P1, maybe the reputation of Stafford is not so well-recognised?? Any comment?

i think if all applicants of primary school get a chance to interivew, only the interview performance but not the school name/reputation will be considered

I am totally agree with you.  Primary school will consider the ability of ur bb more than which KG he/she is studying!

I will definitely go for Stafford.  I've paid registration fee already, even if it is only PM class.  For York, I don't think I will consider because of the Eng learning environment is far better than York.

My nephew studied in Stafford before.  He was also able to knock the door successfully in some famous primary school!

I believe that it is not as famous as York is because of 2 resons:
-fewer students so fewer ppl to talk
-it is less commercial than York so less "advertising" than York

I got acceptance from both Stafford and York AM class. I paid deposit to Stafford already. Totally agree with bellabella and p_hsy. Primary interview will consider the performacne of the kids rather than which kindergarten they are from.

I love Stafford coz of its small class where more caring can be placed to our kids. And Staffordd can offer better English environment as well.

Hi Ikebukuro,

I've got an offer from SN which also has a small class size. And I've paid the deposit of York already. So, I won't consider Stafford anymore.

Hi Ikebukuro,

Do you also got the offer from SN? I think SN can have a more balanced language environment as they also emphasize on Chinese and Putonghua! But if you concern an English environment, then, maybe Stafford is much better.

i also totally agree with both of you. the performance in apply p1 is more important than which kg you studied at. and i think that all principles from primary they will know all kgs in kowloon tong very well.

bella,

finally, i paid the registration to stafford this noon (accept pm class), now i paid sn & stafford already.

i also talked with the vice-headmistress of york (mrs. leung) she told me that both of york & stafford's curriculum were same, only the difference is english environment will be much better in stafford.

our sons will be classmates if finally i choose stafford.

Good to hear that you agree with me and paid the registration fee of Stafford.

I went to SN for interview last Sat but I don't like it very much because the school facilities seems to be very old. Also, I just read a thread saying that they do not have NET, is that right? I just know that they are emphasis on PTH as well. Any idea that whether Stafford has PTH class?

I have also placed a question to you on the thread subjected "york vs johannes".

How do you feel about st johannes? Any idea that whether they are academically pushy or a more relaxed curriculum? How is their primary school allocation results?

Hi All,

I am going to join the Stafford mama club as well coz my daughter has received the AM class offer today (interview on last Sat)!!! Very happy.

I have paid SN & York previously but most likely, I will go for Stafford but not others.

Talked with Stafford today, they said school class is about 24 to 28 per class (must not over 30), teaching material is same as York but since they have longer school calendar (summer holiday is only from mid jul to early aug), they will spread out the teaching material & teach slower compare with York.

I like Stafford most coz it is small class scale with NET and the NET are from different places (I don't like some school having all Indian NET only). Also, during school visit, I found most of the teachers are nice & the NET interviewed us are very friendly also.

Regarding Mandarin, I heard from the NET who interviewed us is only 2 lessons weekly, less focus compare with english, most likely, have to teach kid outside.

my daughter got offers from Stafford and York in AM class.

my hubby also told me that Stafford has longer school calendar than York. This is good for the kids as they can spend longer time in studying and not so rush in completing the syllabus. One more, parents can have more free time, haha. Just the tuition fee in Stafford is more expensive than York - i guess as it has NET in the class.

however, we are still waiting for SC and Good Hope's results; and we are going to have interviews in SN and KV this Sat as my daughter is Dec07, a very very small girl.

yes, i chose stafford is that i agreed with you about the net as class teacher, good english environment in stafford as told by vice-headmistress of york and small size class in stafford.

SN's facilities were quite old but i don't mind this cos i want to find a good school with higher curriculum to my kid. i think kids to learn is more important than playing in school. i think it has net as subject teacher but not class teacher only.

But at the end, i think u will choose SC if you got offer, right?

I also got offer from York, but I will not pay registration fee, because I think Stafford is better than york,
Now, I am waiting for KV and SC result only, if sucessfully apply either one, I believe I will change

Probably yes if SC admit my son.  And you?

I've also got 3 other offers yesterday.

Cannon - will give up
York - will give up
St Johannes - will register as I like this KG

However, not sure about how should I choose between Stafford and St Johannes.  I think both KGs offer very good Eng environment and small class.  Both have NET as class teacher (but St Johannes might allocate you with Chi as class teacher, however, all subjects except Chi and PTH will be taught in Eng).  St. Johannes has its own primary school...

Have you got any offer from St Johannes?  If I remember correctly you have applied it as well, right?

For SN, I have paid deposit also, I will wait till April Open day visit before decide (hope I can bring my kid there as well & see does how she likes it).

I think the good thing for NET as class teacher is kid can adapt daily communication in english easier esp for a lot of daily communication cannot find in the book & it is hard to teach them at home if we are not native speaker.

But in terms of teachers' teaching experience, I have no doubt SN is better than Stafford.

For SC, I will deeply consider it also if we are lucky to get the offer (since my daughter performed the worst among all schools).
