 Hi chumowendy,

Of course KV is a very famous school in terms of its strong academics, however, I think it is also a discriminatory school.

My friend's son (now in Primary 1): 4 years ago, he was admitted to KV, and of course my friend was very very happy.  However her son has some allergy to milk and eggs.  So, 2 days ago, she called the school and ask them, that the boy will be bringing an Epi-pen (emergency injection shot) in his school bag.  Just in case if he has an allergic reaction, she would like to ask the teacher to administer it, or if the teacher won't do that, my friend can arrange for her Philipino maid to stand-by outside the school everyday, just in case something happens, the maid can inject it.  However the school then did not allow my friend's son to be admitted to the school!

Can you imagine?  Just 2 days before school starts, rejected!  My friend was so disappointed and worried at that time!  Luckily she was later able to arrange for her son to go to Kln Ton HKPS.  This year, her son is in P1, at DBS Junior School!

So, chumowendy, I think HKPS is just as good.  Which HKPS is your baby at?  Kln Tong or Royal Ascot?  My daughter is at Royal Ascot, pm class for N1.  It's funny coz she also sings the school song (in Chinese).  But since she can't speak yet, she goes:

'Nok Gay nok nok nok...'  (it should be 樂基幼
 稚園)

Going back to my friend's story, actually, she went to the Equal Opportunities Board and opened up a case there to appeal for the discrimination 4 years ago.  The headmistress was not apologetic at all.  But however, of course she did not end up going back to KV, because her son will for sure be discriminated against, even if he could get in.  However, since that year, all the application forms from KV will ask you whether your child has any allergies or not.  If they have, then don't even bother applying.  They will for sure not accept you. Sad but true!

I will not apply to KV, because my daughter is also allergic to milk, egg white and fish...
