Re: any comments/information of St Mary?
My daughter is studying P.1. There are some homeworks, around 2-6 pieces in a day (it varies because it depends on the lessons on the following day). The school encourages students to read both at school and at home (including on-line reading). My daughter joined 3 on-line reading web-sites, i.e. 2 in Chinese and 1 in English everyday (but it is optional). There is a reading scheme at school (but there is no requirement on the kinds of books and the numbers of books to read). My daughter develops her interest in reading. She always go to the school library to read books during play time and she always read books from public liabrary at home.
Extra-curricular activities are arranged by the school on Wednesdays after school hours. There are music performances at school and outdoor trips arranged by the school.
The school has a deep religious atmosphere and there are many religous functions at school.
I do not put too much pressure on her school studies. But parents should not be lazy in supervising their daughters studies because there are dictations and short tests from time to time (probably once in a week) but the test marks do not count. There are two examinations in a year.
My daugther can manage her studies but not too hard (may be she is just P.1). She has time to join extra-curricular activities and tutorials, e.g. piano, violin, swimming, Kumon, English playgroup and putongua. She can enjoy watching her favourite TV programme every evening after finishing her homework.
St. Mary is really a good school. The school provides a good learning atomsphere to students. |
