The Prospects of International School Graduates

A query:

In view of increasing in-take of local Chinese kids into international schools and their lower Chinese level (compared with local school students), what do you think the career prospects of these Chinese graduates?

鑑於國際學校取錄的学生愈來愈多是本地的华人学童,他們的中文水平較主流学校学生為低。你認為他們的就業前景怎樣?

Re: The Prospects of International School Graduates

They must think globally.  Being a Chinese can be advantageous if they familiarise themselves with Chinese culture and language (knowledge of Putonghua and 中文簡體字) while at the same time fluent in English.  If students have poor Chinese language skill and their English is not as good as their English-speaking counterparts, then they will be in an unfavourable position.

Re: The Prospects of International School Graduates

Concerning their career start-up, I think it depends on their academic achievement and the appreciation of employers.

The phenomenon "increasing in-take of local Chinese children into international schools" is recent. Their achievement is still on the way. International school students usually speak fluent English, good mandarin and even other languages. Quite many of them went top universities over the globe. Some employers are able to appreciate the strengths and competence of international school graduates.
