I have applied TY ESF Kinder. Do any mami know do we need to interview or if they have places, they just offer us without interview. Pls. advise.

If no interviews, is it easy to accept by ESF just only based on first come first served.

They are based on the information that you provided on the application form, they may consider the address, any siblings, language that the child can speak and the parents' language

I have questions then. How do they know the language that the child can speak and the parent's lang? Only by reading from the form? All parents claim that they speak English lah?!

I don't know their criteria. But almost all my daughter's classmates have studied nursery classes before. In my case, my daughter didn't attend any nursery class, but we've lived abroad for 1 year due to my husband's job. I don't know if it's the reason.

I am not sure of their criteria too, but I think they put lots of informations into account, such as siblings, parent's "mother" languages, language spoken at home (fluently) with grandparents, maid, relatives.....pre-school history, nationality etc.

In my case, I am a chinese-canadian who moved here from vancouver. My son has participated in lots of local community's program before he came to Hong Kong. Yea, parents can claim that their whole family speak fluent English but I don't think anyone would cheat...

yes, it's very easy. i know some friend's who are holding hk local passport, speak cantonese, their child still get in ESFTY becoz not interivew is needed. ESFTY is much easier to get in than ESF Sheung Wan.

my son has been accepted by ESFTY, i have turned down, as chinese enviroment is not my cup of tea...the kids does speak chinese during snack time, toilet time (told by my friend's son).

Why getting into ESFTY is easier than ESFSW? Does ESFTY offer more seats? I've applied ESFSW but was informed few weeks ago that my son could only be placed on waiting list as it's full already.

Can any ESFSW parents please share whe did you submit the application and the student composition (% of non local Chinese, etc).
