你係音樂老師，亦係音樂專才，一定懂得替兒子揀一個合適的音樂老師 ^^

我哋唔熟悉音樂，唯有靠運氣 (其實我覺得連朋友推介的都未必一定適合), 又或者上堂幾個月去感覺吓

其實有d 老師就算資歷好丶經驗多，但都未必適合自己小朋友。有識彈琴嘅朋友叫我留意一下老師所教嘅學生考試丶比賽嘅分紙，大部分成績都偏高分就可以考慮吓喎。
不過我覺得最好都係要試上一排，你同小朋友自己感覺下就最好！

P2, Grade 5 piano, merit, fairly good ah (especially if the parents did not play the instrument).

Don't know exactly your case. Sometimes, a teacher may wish to build the foundation of a student, in order to him/her to be prepared for a more advanced level. May stuck for a while before obvious improvement. On the other hand, it could be a teacher's mis-judgment like you said.

A teacher will usually plan ahead so that this is enough time for the kid to get prepared so that he/she will get likely get at least a high merit under normal circumstances...

External factors during the exam could make the kid perform at sub-par level. Taste of the examiner and the different thoughts of interpreting the exam pieces between the examiner and the teacher could also affect. Hopefully his/her fundamental skills and shapes could remain, hence getting a pass at least...

其實我都唔太肯定舊老師個教法，不過見阿囡跟咗佢學一排，降級比賽成績反而差咗；揀考試歌佢竟然係揀阿囡弱項嘅歌去考 (意思係阿囡手細，根本按唔到8個鍵，佢揀其中兩首考試歌都有依個問題，後來我才知道原來佢叫阿囡放棄某d 音唔洗彈；又同阿囡講，如果彈得唔夠快，可以彈慢d ，但其實佢改到首歌好慢，完全冇咗首歌活潑跳躍嘅感覺..
