大家都系做SHOW AND TELL, LS 真系认真好多,要能摆出来贴堂,OPEN DAY 有“成绩”给人看才行!IS可能着重 ...
Yes,

I definitely agree that presentations done by LS students seems better.  But that is the results of parents doing them at home by doing the the research, summarizing and analysing, presenting core  information and writing up the script so that the children can regurjitate during class.

Basically, the parents taught the LS students at home, while ISstudents are given chances to try to do things on their own.

I am not kidding.  St Catherine's bilingual class (pth/eng) K2 children are asked to do news report presentation in class in PTH, as I was told by a friend who quitted promptly after that.  How on earth would a 4 yr old be able to understand and present!!

That's the school telling parents to teach their children on their own at home.

We mustn't forget every school is different and most schools are somewhere between the two extreme examples of LS and IS. Parents and students have to evaluate each school they are interested in without over stereotyping.

Off the top of my head, I can think of the following significant considerations.

- LS approach is all about standards from K1. The school sets academic and social standards all children will require to achieve. It is the responsibility of the students and the families to find a way to meet the standards. There are also standard tests, exams, standard model answers and standard behavior too.

- IS generally respect that children are individuals and they have their own developmental pace.  Learning is the responsibility of the students.

- LS are more about "knowing" hard facts and develop the ability to solve academic questions.

- IS usually encourage students to understand and analyze information. The schools value students own opinion to everything.

The more bizzare a thing is, the less mysterious it proves to be.

IS 重視 Learn to learn, passion to learn,

It's knowledge vs wisdom .
