I have never taken my daughter to join swimming course in public pools so I really can't comment. I believe it is true though. They divide the pool horizontally so the distance is quite short. However, I think this is really good for beginners since the pool water depth is consistent and the children feel safer. Besides, the whole pool is all dedicated to the swimming classes & you won't bump into other people. For more advanced swimmers, I heard that they have dedicated sessions when they divide the pool vertically.
For the shower facility, there are around 5-6 showers in the female change room. It can be quite crowded in summer when there are more people joining the courses. However, from my experience, the people are really fast. The changing room is almost empty after 10-15 min. We are always the last to leave.
You can always request for a free trial class to get a feel before you decide to join the course.
There are some public parking in Lei King Wan. I'm not sure of the price. You might even get street parking if you are lucky!
