Children of this age could play flute using ordinary flute, not needed to use U咀 flute. 嘴型, the position of the arm and hands are also crucial.......blowing air at the right angle making the sound is something that it takes time to manage, and it's something that's not totally scientific, but gut feeling. I play flute as well, if I don't play for a while, it takes a little bit time to adjust.
Anyway, you should consult with the teacher, a truly experienced teacher should be able to identify the problem.
