My son knew a student studying at Kent College Canterbury and this student has a fair comment on this school.
Comparing with King’s Canterbury (31,440 pounds/Rank 37 in 2011) and Tonbridge (32,823 pounds/Rank 9 in 2011) both located in Kent, I think it is quite expensive to spend 28,500 pounds to study Kent College with ranking 333.
If your son is a band one student, why not consider a higher ranking school with less inexpensive school fee such as Monmouth (23,100 pounds) located in Wales? The obstacle of Welsh accent is definitely not a problem for a Form 6 student who is unlikely to be familiar with Welsh accent in two years’ time.
Unlike lower forms, there are some F.6 boarding places left upon the release of GCSE results in every school in late August 2013. Even for the elite Colchester Royal Grammar School, one of my friends was notified by Colchester to admit his son in late August though he eventually declined the offer.
My elder son submitted applications for Form 6 as late as in February this year and was admitted by all the applied schools. There is still much time left to avoid making hasty decision.
