Re: Piano Exam Planning?
I heard it a matter of practice. You need a lot of pieces well under your daughter's technical skill. Practice sight read everyday for 15mins or even 5 mins is much better then practice a few hours one day per week.
Read the whole piece first to identify hard passage. Practice at very very slow speed and not making any mistake, practice at normal speed and don't stop for any mistake.
For exam, it is better to play fluently and miss notes then trying to get every note and forgot it is music you are play not notes.
Sight-sing also helps. In fact, the more your daughter expose to Music the better la. Join a choir la, that's helps aural exams in later grades. It is recommended by ABRSM la! Check out this link.
Other tips
By the way, I am just a father interested in using piano as a tool to help my son (4 years old, not start learning piano yet) to the world of music.
Last piece of advice, don't take exam for the sake of taking it. Use it as a tool to evaluate progress only. Or get in famous school la!
