回復 1# kilivic 的帖子
Hi Kilivic,
kids and parents are different, may have different interprtation, here is my opinion:
1) fun learning is still my ideal way for my daughter's school life...
Ans: TSL is not that fun learning when compared with other schools as the teachers are not really trained to use IB type of learning, they are young, but still using traditional ways of learning, but not that conservative as too traditional..
2) i do not want to kill her creativity on one hand, but i also have to consider if i can support her studying in PTL's way.
Ans: I think creativity is not enough promoted in this school, sorry, I am quite disappointed on that, but still, more creative than many other traditional government schools. But for sure, their ways of teaching will not kill creativity, but not much promoting..
3) How much time to support learning
Ans: No anxiety on me to support my kid's learning at all.
because
a) the teachers encouraged students to be independent, not to be perfect, same as me as a mom; fear of school to produce perfect child, how terrible, TSL is not this kind of terrible school!
b) I am a full-time working mom, in reality I don't have much time to intensively monitor my kid's homework to achieve perfectness, and I hate perfectness myself as well! But the result is not bad, not perfect, but up to the kid's and my expectation!
c) My kid basically is independent, partly due to the personality, partly due to the school culture, partly due to my parenting, so not much time required from me, just give a little direction will be fine.
d) two weeks before exam, I plan with the kids together with his revision timetable, he implement the plans. I will spend more time with him during these two weeks in academic learning. Other than that, all of our time together is reading, eating, tv time and sports time.
4) is there projects involving parents everyday or weekly?
Some, not many, very reasonable, up to my standard, and these projects are meaningful projects, such as those from general studies, science project , need project to learn, not need readings to learn..
if you are not requiring perfectness; the good part about this school and the teachers (except the interview, they are more and more incline to recurit a "perfect" child now, so it's a shame that some wonderful smart kids will not be recruited these two years due to their "inperfectness in speaking english or presentation in interviews", I don't understand why they require kid's presentation skills, they are not recruiting bankers or professors!!! they are now recruiting superkids!!), for the kids in school, they seem quite respect children's imperfectness, so the kids do well in the project with teachers' guidance, not much from parents , so far so good, no disaster or any accident of mark drops. Kids learn with adults' respect and allowance of space. This is the good part of school.
