Dear loklokel,

I think the most attractive point of Pui Kei is that it only enrolls Form 1 students and does not join the Central Allocation since the first year of the school. All the students are selected by itself. So the quality of the students can be controlled, especially the conducts of the students. Do you agree?

Unlike Lam Tai Fai College, it enrolled Form 1 and Form 4 students and joined the Central Allocation last year. You can see the difference of the students between these two schools.

I've been to their seminar but I can't see anything special in their curriculum. It is just like a normal secondary school...it's campus is not very specially designed and facilities are just so-so. Even if they claim they are focused on English teaching, but they only have ONE native English teacher....

I agree with Happylife.  My friend's child is now in Pooi Kei and he is very happy about his life.  My friend told me the school is very strict in discipline because it wants to build up its reputation in a short time.  She also said their teachers are very caring.

There are 6 classes in 04/05 and 12 classes in 05/06. One native English speaker is enough.

I am sorry that I can't agree on that. ONE is FAR FROM ENOUGH to build up an environment they have emphasized. NETS functions strongly in building a strong environment and it is so important to have more than less (IMHO). Just take a look an example like the new Pui Kiu College at Shatin, they have also mentioned building a strong language environment and they have promised to have about 50% of high quality NET English teachers. That's much more convincing.

"We have many native English speakers come back to HK after studing in foreign countries." the principal said.
Their NET are Hongkongers.
Their website is very attractive but please remember Pui Kiu is neither an international nor ESF school.
% of band one students is not sure. Do you think their students are suitable for complete English environmnet?

Well, their NET teachers are NOT HongKongers. One is from Australia (Native Australian) and the other is from UK (a native BBC). Two others drama teachers are also westerners. But of course, the otehr 50% are high quality HK teachers and teachers coming back from other countries.

They also understand that the wide range of students in the 1st year so they have already set up the planning for boosting students English for their Grade 7 at the beginning stage of their studies.

Agree. Pui Kiu's NET(hongkongers excluded) is a few times more than Pooi Kei. However, 50% is an exaggeration.
Needless to say, Pui Kiu's English environment is better than Pooi Kei.

Comparison besides Eng:
Student intake: Pooi Kei is more tough.
Students' family: Pui Kiu are richer
Transportation: Pooi Kei is better.
Venue: Pui Kiu prevail.
Morality: I GUESS Pooi Kei prevail(Christian school).

My son was accepted by both schools. I choose Pooi Kei finally. I wish I have the right choice.
