Thanks Pianokc.  My son is now at KCS K3 local stream.  However, his mother tongue is English and so I need to put him in international school starting P1.  Would it be too late to apply to KCIS primary school?  Is it hard to get accepted?  How's the Chinese level?  I want my son to know certain amount of Chinese (I know it will be much lower level than local stream).

建議你先遞交申請表，約4月進行面試，好快就會知道結果。無記錯 KCS 轉讀 KCIS 係優先給予面試機會，但收唔收個小朋友就要視乎面試表現。

2009年4月進行面試時，year 2 (2009-2010)大約有10個位，head teacher shortlist 左約30個小朋友面試；聽講當時 year 1 (2009-2010) 大約有40個位，但幾多小朋友有面試機會就不清楚。

KCIS Year 2 用小一中文書，每日有中文堂/中國文化堂(約50分鐘)，每日有中文功課。

hi bobee,

year 1 面試係清華街校舍，year 2 面試係寶馬山校舍。面試時，課室有3至4個老師，每個老師一張細枱，每個老師同一時間只面見一個小朋友。小朋友要係課室外耐心等候，小朋友要獨自入課室，無須見家長。面試時間約15至20分鐘。

there are rumours saying that KCIS is the worst international school.  is the school really that bad - i mean, too easy and not organized?  I really don't know the truth of this rumor but as my boy is at KCS-K3 right now and so I want him to go to KCIS P1.  Thanks!

I cannot believe ANYONE would say KCIS is bad. That is just crazy. I am a VERY demanding, critical, high standard and picky parent, KCIS meets all my standards except there is a shortage of facilities within the school compared to CIS and HKIS and GSIS.

The curriculum is super, I love it. Perfect balance in English and Mandarin, encouraging, not critical, but motivating students to do their best.
My daughter has gained much confidence since attending this school.

KCS- highschool has a bad reputation.
Don't mix it up.

KCIS- there is a lengthy waiting list right now, alot of my friends are trying to get in for next year for Reception and Primary.

KCIS- highschool is just working on their reputation because their first year of graduates were just last year. All went on to reputable universities.

ISF, CKY, have yet to have even one class graduate with IB diploma programme.

Agreed.  So risky to put faith in ISF given that their high tuition fees but without much record.

Pianokc,  btw, would you mind to tell me if you will let your kid to apply for some of the local primary schools, apart from int'l school (as few school allows interview to be conducted in english)?  Or you've already determined to let your kid to continue int'l stream all the way upto high school?

My kids switched FROM local traditional school system, and as an alumni of DGJS, I believe I will keep my kids at KCIS until I bring them overseas to continue their academic studies.

完全同意！我會用眼自己去睇而唔係用耳去聽人講。我同 Pianokc 一樣非常滿意 KCIS 各方面。

KCIS waiting list 真係好長。另外，佢係好多人既 dream school (included me)。
