Hi, I enrolled my daughter as a P2 student this year and she was accepted by the school after the 2 round's interview.  She started school just a few days and she was happy about school, the teachers and classmates.  I still have much to learn about the school but both my husband and I think this is the type of education we want for our daughter.

What aspects do you want to know?

Hi DESP,

I submitted the appication form this year.  I do not doubt that students will be learning happily at school. But I am quite worry that if they can fit in the tradition secondary schools 6 yrs later.  Can you tell me why did you change school for your daughter?  Has she studied in traditional primary school and had unhappy experiences?  Thank you.

My daughter studied quite well in her former school and she got several awards.  She is above average.  She goes well with her classmates and she is happy about school.  

We just want a kind of education which can help her think and to be creative and it should help her in her language and reading ability which we don't see much progress in a traditional primary school.  We are afraid it may hamper her many other abilities if she studies for 6 years long.  Besides,  we want an education which encourages rather than creats a lot of failure and 'poor student'.  

CKY will have her own 'one dragon' secondary school.  There are of course still some uncertainties.  It depends how much you trust the school and how far you are willing to let your children to try.

-School fee $3,800 x 11 months,
-Musical instrument training around $4,200/year
-Optional Saturday extra curricular activities:   ranged around $300 to $1000 per acitivies per school term of about 12 lessions.
-some tailored-made material/storybooks for each class: about $1000/school term

陳守仁小學 : 陳之前身為賈梅氏小學，有數十年歷史。於五、六年前被保良保接收並搬到位於大角咀之新校址，而以前之賈梅氏幼稚園亦遷至紅墈區並改命為保良局譚歐陽少芳紀念幼稚園。

陳是一所直資英文小學，除了中國語文課以中文授課外，其他課程全是以英文為授課語言，當中為有”英文班”- 以法文和英文為主修；”中文班” – 以英文和中文為主修；而修”英文斑”的同學便不會上中國語文課，而上法文堂。 每月1,200學費，修”中文班”之課程是可以與本地傳統學校課程銜接，一班約有40人。四年級開始有精英班，二年班開始每年級有一班為”普通話”班，中國語文是以普通話授課。

蔡繼有 – 由保良局經營之私立國際學校，月費約四千；行小班制；約二十多人一班，教學語言為英文，中文科以普通語授課。 採行活動教學，全無壓力，校內課程不能銜接香港的傳統小學。

好的小學有許多，理念和實踐卻是兩會事，對於我而言最重要是給與孩子一所學校是 ：老師有愛心並能培育出有自信心的孩子，英文水平高，學校設施齊備，學校收費合乎自己的家庭經濟水平，和家居不太遠。(因為很多時要參加學校之興趣班和課後活動)  

至於師資吧！ 我可沒有什麼意見，因為小兒只是小學生，拿個大學教授去教他，只怕會浪費資源、不切實際 。

謝謝各位媽媽的意見.
我有一位親戚的兒子最近入了DBS小一, 而沒有入蔡繼有. 但似乎他的媽媽開始有些後悔, 因他其他入蔡繼有的同學在開課後都很開心地學習, 而DBS因較傳統, 所以小朋友會較沒興趣.
也有人告訴我蔡繼有讓小朋友在體育堂時以(大概)每三個月學習一種運動, 如首三個月學習待乒乓球, 下三個月月學體操之類...這樣可使小朋友一氣呵成地學習, 以陪養出對該運動的興趣...
不知還有沒有其他媽媽有蔡繼有的分享?

Up till now, for Chinese, my daughter has already been taught 2 poems (instead of passages).  Teachers teach them how to appreciate poems.  She can recite them aloud in Putonghua.  There is no need to copy vocabularies.  She copied some other words today just for the sake of improving their handwriting.  They did them in an exercise book which the teacher named it "靚字".  Not sure if there will be any dictation but I have asked my daughter to dictate the poems by herself.

"CKY P.4 今年 P.E computuer, music....轉用中文 ! 不過校長話悟係轉, 係佢既方針喎 ! 仲話 佢唔係英文學校唔係國際學校 tim !"

Can anyone tell what is happening?

請問你講那間DBS是津校那間還是直資那間呢?

其實我都對CKY好有興趣, 不過之前聽聞這間學校學費很貴, (學費連什費), 而且好似成日轉來轉去, 又不知將來中學是否會跟番香港課程, 到時咪一定要出國留學?

不過我都會出年考這校的, 希望到時有多D資料啦!

DBS係指男小拔. 佢係一間直資小學.
我估我都會比個小朋友考下CKY同DBS, 另外就會試下報英華小學.
我也知這些私立/直資小學好貴, 而且我有兩個兒子, 到時兩個都讀直資的話, 連課外活動, 真係要成萬銀一個月. 真係好貴.

我上星期六去了家長會, 校長話這是一間優質私校, 是雙語學校, 採雙班主任制, 一中一西, 但不是國際學校, 現在1年級每班有30人,低年班除中文及其他指定科目如 ‘生活教育’ 科 (一科教小朋友日常失生活的subject) 等, 主要科目會用英文教, 閒科亦用英文教, 但到4,5年級, 閒科如P.E, music等未必用英文教, 因可能請不到適 合教師, 同時學生到時也有一定語言基礎 ….

學制方面, 小學唸5年, 初中4年, 之後高中3年如家長想學生考會考, 就開會考班, 想考國際文憑就開國際文憑班, 暫時無定案, 有家長問小學唸5年, 咁成績達到出面6年級水準嗎. 校長話可以, 她有信心做到, 因蔡繼有D學生水準好高.

當日有幾位外籍老師介紹課程, 但有一位外籍老師口音極難聽, 我估佢係法國人, 據說是現在1年級某班班主任, 我自己就覺得此位老師不適合做小一班主任, 因小朋友會聽得好辛苦, 個人覺得蔡繼有雖 然係好, 但路向不太清楚, 試問9年活動教學後學生可fit in會考嗎, 國際文憑班(校長無話IB) 唔係話開就開. 不過如諗住讀完後出國留學就無所謂,不知大家有乜意見.
