Glad to know you RichardMa,
You mean the “activities” held by school or the “activities” you will arrange by your own for your daughter ?
For my girl, I have arranged her to attend piano class (two morning half-hour each) and English tutorial (two morning 45-mins each).
On Wednesday, she doesn’t have activity in the morning since she has swimming class on every Tuesday nite and I want her to sleep more until the next day.
Arranging something (interest classes) for kids in the morning is good idea since all of the time they finish their homework & revision at nite and morning becomes totally free.
However, I believe the arrangement is determined by your daughter’s interest and what activities are available around your house.
You know, the kids need to have lunch at around 11am in order to ride on the school bus, time management is crucial for every morning.
Therefore, you can’t go too far for activities.
Regarding the English tutorial in which my girl has been taking since K.2, I find the course can stimulate her a lot in English learning, so even if my girl has no problem in catching up with the English classes at SHCS now, I remain her in the private tutorial.
As for the school activities, probably in late Sept/early Oct, you will receive some school notices for choosing a preferred interest class from a list.
Some of
the classes are free while some are chargeable.
Majority of them are held on Friday school-end (thus, if you will arrange your girl’s own interest lesson, don’t make in on Friday nite as she will usually be late for school and she also need to attend Saturday morning class on alternate week).
A few of the classes are held on other days, like Sunday (e.g. Chinese Dance) or during weekdays morning (e.g. swimming and school swimming team at 南華會, musical instruments, badminton at 上環文娛中心, 乒乓球at 西區運動場 …..).
Thus, you may need someone to bring your girl to the venue if you are choosing things like these.
But don’t worry, usually those classes are not open for P.1 form so you still have time to decide when your girl got fully familiar with the school.
Hope these will help and a very Happy Good Start ! |
