Hi Egghead,
Thank you for telling me there are other discussions about EPGY. Honestly, I did not research or think that much before my son did the aptitude test online.
In fact, my son is not a gifted child. I don't think he is and I never think of putting him in the respective tests. However, he seems to have special interest and higher capability in Math, as per the comments from the class teachers from his previous school as well as the current one (he just changed to GSIS this April). Infokid does offer an aptitude test for him in the coming June, however he won't take it (or maybe take it later) as I don't want to put him into the summer intensive course.
I'm not much worried about him losing interest in Maths or daydreaming during school math class after taking EPGY. I think finding the school Math too simple is nothing new for kids like yours and mine, who seem to have more talent in Math !? My son did say that the school Math is easy (especially for his previous school) but he's fine and enjoyed doing them with ease. He took Abacus Math weekly in addition to school math for 3 years (5-8 years old) before.
You know, GSIS is 'famous' for its Math and Science. And my sons did say the school Math now is much more challenging than before. So, I think this 'issue' might not be big with GSIS too.
Anyway, I think it worths trying one course (online fee is around HK$4,XXX) and see how it goes.
Cheers,
