Re: St. Stephen's College Preparatory School (聖士提反小學)
Our principal does not play an active role in the school. Yes, it is true that we have native English speaking teacher to teach Eng but we found problems in it. The NET doesn't teach grammar at all and the book we are using is too difficult for local students. Our parents already reflect this situation to the principal, asking her to add anther teacher to teach grammar (we prefer Chinese because they will know what local students need) Do you know what she act? She just refer a native tutor (say this is a English teacher who taught DGS before) to us, this tutor costs $500/hour. How do you feel? Do you think she is a responsible person?
Moreover, we don't think have much actitivites as other school. We have nothing to talk about for Mid-Autumn festival, nor Chinese New year etc. We asked why? Because we thought that the school should organise some activities for the students, let them know more. Maybe you can say that this is like an international school, but how about Halloween? We don't have any celebration neither. She said that this is a Christian school, so doesn't like to make students superstitious, but this year they organise the Halloween activites for the boarding students only. We cannot join in. What type of school this is? Yes, it is true we have other activities like the English club, Chinese club etc. but our children learn nothing from it.
In conclusion, the students are happyand no pressure because they don't need to study at all. Unless you plan to go abroad later, if not, I advise not to study. Most of the parents here, especially the P6, have tutors, one for each subject at home. I have 1 Eng, 1 Mandarin, so you can imagine the huge expense!
