I feel many of us have been focusing on the ranking, that is the examination result for comparison and selection. I always believe that no matter how excellent the top students are doing in those particular schools, it may have little to do with us as our kids may not be one of them.
Likewise, parents are always considering some schools, because these schools are the alma maters of some great scientists, scholars or statement, such as Winston Churchill, Stephen Hawking, Tony Blair.... (I am not going to name the schools).
I think the most important part is doing more research especially a school visit, let our kids feel and tell whether they like the school. If they like more, more likely they will do better.
That said, one important factor also to be considered is the neighbour of the school as our kind may be required to "shuttle" often for daily necessities. Dulwich is in an elite area near London. Tonbridge, even it is further from London, it is very a scenic and historic town. Whitgift, on another hand, is in Croydon, a very "mixed" area, while some parts of it would be dangerous, it is pretty much like our Sham Shui Po.
