The reason why there is a significant difference in the number of students in S1 and S6 is because many students left the school for IS or went abroad between S3-5. Its nothing to do with the school, just that these families have other targets and they need to leave the school early in order to be able to catch up with their new schools and have goood results in public exams.
Students in MPS or MSS come from a very wide spectrum, there are very wealthy families but at the same time there are also grassroots families yet many can become goood friends despite the differences in backgrounds.
There are students in MPS going to DGS and St Paul Co-ed, but that is only a very small number.
From what I know, students who are academically sound normally will go abroad and further their studies, and that could not be reflected in the DSE results. (there are graduates from oxford, cambridge, Edinburgh in uk, MIT, UPenn, Cornell, Johns Hopkins in US, etc)
I have no understanding on 天神 but I have many friends who are ‘st marians’. If you are talking about their level of English, it is without a doubt that MSS is definitely better, no matter in terms of verbal delivery or written English as the majority are well equipped since MPS and a very strong foundation is laid. It is right that many speak native English and it is so easy to outshine others when it comes to speaking. But it is also true that MSS’ Level of Chinese is weak, and students are not as academically aggressive because this is never what MSS or MPS values.
