You can think I am "Ah Q" but as a mom I just want to be supportive of my daughter's choice. Even if she wants to be a hair stylist, I will be as supportive. Something I am sure, she does not have the passion to be a doctor so medical school (most HK mom's dream) is not in our consideration.
She has not graduated yet, and it is still a long way to getting the professional qualification. She has only worked as intern. She has worked in Hong Kong, New York and Toronto and the pay are decent. Her program is quite special. All students have to have working experience in different companies. So that makes most of the students very willing to venture outside. This is probably also why my daughter is quite independent and were able to find jobs in different cities.
Yes she was lucky. It is still too early to say whether her path will be as smooth as expected. But so far, we are happy with where she is now.
Having said that, if parents or even students have doubts with the prospect, I suggest that you find another path.
