While I believe the school could and should have done more on your son's case, I do not believe in requesting to switch class / withdrawal to handle this matter.
The priority of a school is to ensure the safety of all students. They can adopt whatever approach to teach the bully, but they should ensure also the safety of the victims as well. Most schools / teachers do not want to deal with bullying cases as it is hard to "convict" the bully with no witnesses usually and most cases appear to be just playful matters on the playground. But to me it is not right to beat up anyone period, doesn't matter if they are only playing.
But it is also not ideal to request to switch classes / school because of this. It gives out a message to a victim that he / she should always run away from problems instead of dealing with it. |
