South Island School
Principal’s Blog
8 July 2013
As ever, it has been a big weekend for IB students, Saturday night marking the culmination of 2 years’ hard work with the release of the May 2013 session results. For the vast majority of our 141 IB candidates, the evening was, once more, one of celebration. The full results analysis will be published, according to ESF Policy, on our website later today but, in short, this has been another successful year for South Island students with 14% of the cohort securing 40+ points and 2 students gaining the maximum 45 points. It is particularly pleasing to see 47% of our students gaining 35 points or over. This really is a great achievement, with results equating to our second highest since implementing the IB Diploma Programme and we are all delighted for our students and their families. The majority of students have secured their first or insurance University place, several at highly prestigious institutions, among them Oxford, Imperial, UCL, as well as several US “ivy league” universities. Our HE Counsellors have been working hard over the weekend and will continue today to help those in need of help in this area. Congratulations to all concerned and the very best of luck to our graduating students as they embark on the next stage of their lives.
