To be honest, I really don't get the fuss of speaking English to your children at home. I understand lots of parents want to create an English speaking environment for their loved one and hope to improve their English, but, personally, I don't think that help at all. Especially when lots of parents' English isn't their first language, this action will just misled their children to learn inaccurate using of the language, and, their Chinese level will decrease instead. I speak Cantonese to my son, as always. The way I support my son in learning English mainly is I encourage him to read more, and create an atmospher for him to fall in love of the English language.
To be honest, if he loves watching American drama and reading, need not to worry about. |
