In choosing schools, we have to calculate the probabilities (i.e. no. of students divided by the no. of places of a certain school), we have also to consider WHAT others will do (especially the REALLY Band One students).
Then what is the risk if something goes wrong, e.g. error of the system, the kid is not Band One, a bad random number (this is usually the case)

In YTM 2013, 20 primary schools (excluding DGS & St. Mary)
Total pupil (almost actual) = 2526 - 111 -120 = 2295
Total Boys = 1242
Total Girls = 1053 (1284 - 111 - 120)
so How many Band One Boys?
Estimate how many Band One Boys has gone under the DP scheme or elsewhere?
In those 20 schools, estimate how many of them (Band One Boys) would choose the school that you would place 1st?
How many available places your dream school(s) is offering?

這個消息是真的, 我仔讀緊中一, 他上年派位時都講過, 有一同學band 1生派了Band 3 學校.

另外想提醒各家長, 選頭5志願的學校, 最好真係帶小朋友同自己都親身去一去果d 學校先填. 上年有些同學在註冊先第一次去中學, 不論小朋友還是家長, 去到先感覺不喜歡該中學, 最後決定去其他中學叩門.

Click in the link I attached on the last post, check for each school, 2011-2012 school report, P. 5 students, most - school have exact figure with details about boys and girls, make a spreadsheet yourself. +/- should be very little. (except some students change school). So, this should not be the rough figure from the newspapers!You can now have the break down of boys from WHICH school.
Then you can check the past records how they choose school (successful case) and think about the pattern and successful rate and consider what school you kid is and compare.
Finally guess the opportunity and risk and place your bet!

Yes, always!Last 2 years, those student are told to stay in school and compare their homework. If they do not do their homework frequently, the school would inform their parents. BUT, less implementation! : P. They stay and play football instead!
The problem is the group projects, always VERY late and finally no one hand in! Responsibility is the problem.
Their excuse is always rather do the revision than the homework, but .......

SFX近兩年只開4班，但每年都有band2生，通常3-5-7 個，你朋友如果選了SFX而入不了，而又肯定自己band1,可向教育局complain!

估Banding一向都存在誤差，而家長當然期望子女屬於Band1，但有很多不同的變數是難以預計，例如報錯分、入錯機、想法亂咗等等人為因素。

油尖旺是所謂強區，連校網Band2頭學生都有可能是全港Banding的Band1生，可見能夠擠身於校網Band1生是不容易，亦由於這原因，校網Band1生的議價能力很高，每年無論直資及自行離場的Band1學生也相當高，自從聖瑪利轉了一條龍後，更加令此區Band1女生感到擔心而更積極向直資及自行求出路，所以Band1女生的離場率偏高是可以理解，如是者，油尖旺大抽獎看似靚學位不多，但留低參與大抽獎的Band1生其實也不多，連聖瑪利等名小校的Band1生也是有Banding而不派位，可想而知，餘下抽獎的Band1生是有幾大優勢，如果B1生抽到B3學校是事實，我只能相信是系統出錯。

我自己是band1女生的家長。我按照帖子上教的方法估下來，油尖旺的男仔位有多，女生就不夠位。所以男仔的家長比較幸運！
