Well, this happened and is the truth, believe it or not. I have heard the same comments from another teacher of a secondary school in KT. I am not talking about other graduates going to other schools. I just talked about what I have heard for a number of years.

若家長想輕鬆d,而不期望仔女入讀傳統名中學，應該係TSL。其實TSL考得最好那些人，都要出外補習。只要家長要清潔自己的要求及小朋友的特性，總之沒有不勞而獲！

Hi Hoihoima,
My kid is an old boy of SFA.  In class, teacher won't classify pupils as gifted or not.  Teachers teach them as normal pupils.
If your kid is gifted, you would be able to enrol some gifted education training classes.  They just similar to ECA - they are "playing lessons".  No pressure at all.  Gifted children and pupils' exam ranking from no. 1 to 50 in grade would be qualified to enrol those gifted education lessons.  After finishing 10 subjects during six years period,  a gifted education certificate would be presented at the end of P.6.  However, I don't think this certificate would be very helpful for admission to secondary places.
For my point of view, SFA teaches Chinese in Putonghua is very favourable to pupils.  A very good help to pupils learn Putonghua.  Love this.

Thanks, odelia_ho for your detailed comments. Just curious whether those gifted students generally rank top in the grade? Is it very obvious that their academic results are better than non-gifted students?

General speaking is, but you would see exceptional cases, some gifted children's academic performance are not that good. Somehow, a number of non-gifted perform very good. No 100% guarantee

每個小朋友特質唔同，去邊間先發揮得最好，自己家長心裡有數。何必一定要乜乜vs 物物呢？你去到tsl 做top 果班，有本事既就入band 1. 唔見得我地班top 既小朋友差成咁，唔通教署同保良局有親，派哂佢地去好既中學嗎？
我個仔都考得唔差，但我可以大大聲話比大家知，我個仔從來冇補習。
sfa 都有band 2 band 3 學生，只要自己果個唔係咪得囉。反之tsl 都有大把band 1 學生，你個小朋友係咪得囉。油尖旺網定深水埗網，自己選啦。

我想問你sister係唔係教中中，大部份科目都係中文教?我覺得陳守仁中文唔及一般津校是有可能的要外出補習。至於英文差過一般津校我就不太相信。

HaYi, concur with your assessment.

my fd's kid from a traditional kinder did have some adjustment needed after entering TSL, part. on the creative writing part. but kids are smart. not difficult to adapt.

Re. placement result, I guess as these two schools are so transparent, it's easy to conduct the analysis. My fd's girl got SFA offer and i had quickly checked the placement result of SFA in preceding year. Seems the one for girl is also v. promising.

Do you mean TSL assign children to different classes by their academic results? If so, do the students change class every year?

BTW, how do they present the assessment results in the final school report. e.g. by aboslute marks or grade or any ranking etc.

i think  for the middle tier ,  may be SFA is a bit better (if not  similar)  as  TSL . For the top tier TSL for sure will be samilar as SFA, KTS, APS etc, over 15 % to very top schools like LS , DGS, Marymount...
For Chinese level, may be TSL already aware that new p1 kids need to be push in Chinese as most of the kids hv stronger Eng knowledge. So Chinese is not so easy as outsiders'  expectation.  I aware this  after comparing with those traditional girl schools in both HK and kowloon recently.

On the other side,  TSL is quite demanding in composition / writing, so the teaching direction is a bit diff fm the  traditional schools,  and more close to IB's requirement in longer term.

我在band 1 英中教。坦白講，我有d同事都唔buy直資，因為老師無經驗，流失量高，但直資亦有好多好處，佢地無小朋友未必明白。有d同事唔係好了解，我有同事仲成日講阿Isabella 舊時讀TSL好渣，但Isabella 已是十幾年前讀架啦！而家好多野都唔同左。
不過坦白講，我覺得家長應自己考慮下自己適合d咩學校，因為某程度上，小學係家長讀既，中學先係由小朋友自律學習，所以我自己覺得，小學keep住小朋友的學習動機好重要，否則個小朋友一上到中學就會放軟手腳。
今日有同事研究兩個前幾年會考8A生，發覺佢地小學都唔係考頭十名既，只是中上成績，但學習主動積極。

外語對升中未必好大幫助, 但卻是終生受用。中學只係人生一個階段而已。
