My son studying K2 in CPSKG - my son and I like this KG very much - teachers are nice and caring. Last year K1 has 3 classess in AM and 1 class in PM.
The curriculum is not that easy (my perspective) and I think it is comparable (or even harder) than some famous KG - for Chinese, the children need to recognize over 40 single words throughout KG (and need to start recognize 2 combined words) and for English they teach all 26 Letters and phonics in K1. For Maths, they teach recognizing and counting number up to 30. The class has lots of interactive activities and theme homework - e.g. the child need to go to Supermarket to look for the heathly food, take photos and then speak in front of the class what they found.
In K1, they give homework every Friday for 3 worksheets, sometimes plus 1 English / Chinese theme book. In K2, they give home work everyday (mainly for writing Chinese word and English letter, sometimes plus 1 Math worksheet) with more homework on Friday, sometimes plus 1 English/Chinese theme book.
The school also has various charity activities that the child has the opportunitiy to get involved with. I think this is helpful for mortal development.
In terms of school fees, the monthly school fee is around $3500, stationery and books each term (i.e. half yr) is around $1700, snacks is around $120 - I think this is almost the same as of other KGs (without subsidy).
My comment is not to look at how 'famous' the KG is but see whether the teachers are caring to children - this is very important as your child spend half of the day with the teachers! |
