有些大學會開一些暑期課程，如果在課程尾的成績表現好，會有一分大學學分，當你選擇這大學和讀這科時會優先考慮。今年已經開始了，明年請早。

我知poly U 今年都辦DNA 3days 2 nights Camp, 就算對入學唔太大幫助都好, 起碼小朋友都體驗到大學生活..

I learnt from an University Day, one of the speaker shared with us that most students take OLE or CAS too causal and lack of focus.

His recommendation is like you are very good in music, if you can arrange a fund raising for elderly services and use your talent to organise a concert for example. No need a big concert, a small one will do.

Not just music, community service, also demonstrate the leadership, team work, caring etc..... instead of just attending seminars, join some programs organised by schools......

This type of creative and self-initiative program can make your kid standing out from others.

actually most local universities and top degrees e.g. medicine, law, etc. largely base their intake on one's academic results, ECA or OLE are for marginal cases only. going to university is not comparable to going to secondary school after all.

I won't say you are wrong ......... may be only part of the story....

CUHK medicine, non-JUPAS, ~500 applicants,150 interviewed, 55 enrolled. Base on academic results only, how about interview? Will they ask our boys or girls Phy/Chem/Bio or other topics.........

I quoted this example, which was quoted by a professor, who is the admission officer of a medical school. His comments on medicine admission, all interviewees are eligible to study medicine academically, but they are not picking the best scorer....... the fittest students instead, not from no. of As, from ECA, OLE and CAS.....

Just think about what will be interview questions? Describe the cardio vascular system to me? or what's your most impressive achievement in your secondary school?

Very insightful idea, I will try to guide my daughter towards this direction in OLE or CAS.

It's a simple idea, very reviewing. The guy is an admission officer in a Canadian University.

no offence but just that academic result is the very first thing for local students going to local uni. otherwise even the chance of getting an interview is minimal. this is the main idea of JUPAS. the situation will definitely change if one is looking for overseas uni or go to local uni via non-JUPAS/EAS. i would only say, entering top uni to do top degrees because of good grades is the general pattern, while doing so largely/solely based on non-academic records is the exception. there are indeed some, and those candidates should be very outstanding. in my opinion, the wisest way is to follow the tradition. it does no harm. =)

You may misinterprete the scenario.

We are talking about academic + ECA, not just ECA alone.
