I prefer Native English Teacher with fitting qualification. It’s a chance to learn perfect English usage, wording, pronounce and accent from NET.
I found most local English Teachers seem unable to speak fluent English like foreigners. They are keen on exam paper. They speak passable English but not real spoken English. The outcome is kids cannot express themselves in detail by mouth like foreigners.
For small kids, group learning is better than private tuition. It gains fun and stimulates the child’s interest that encourages their desire to learn.
My daughter has started English courses since 1 year old. Now she is almost 3 year old. I hire a NET and form a small learning group with neighbors. The cost is $1000 for a couple of hour. Besides that, she joins English story class, dancing class and other playgroups as well. All of her teachers are NET. The cost of each lesson is around $100 – 200.
In some community organizations, they offer cheap but valuable English courses. The cost is around $100 - $200 per lesson.
For others, tuition fee vary. It costs round $200 - $500 per lesson. Some International Schools in Hong Kong, such as NIS, ICS, Anfield, ESF, offer English courses for youngsters. You may check with those schools.
