PLEASE READ THIS! SUPPLEMENT INFO on ONE-DRAGON
Let me take this opportiunity to supplement more information for parents to know. Seems not fair to other parents in BK but no ones ever ask me in my one-dragon thread! I guess this is their lost!
I guess I am more knowledgeable in this area as compare to myself when I put up the one-dragon thread, since I volunteered much of my time for education related matters in the past 2 years.
This is why the one-dragon promise cannot be made for SH. There are less seats in private section compare to the kindergarten population in ANY YEARS. In the past few years with the low birth rate, children have a greater chances to earn a seat thru EDB allocation (both discretioinary and central allocation) from other good gov't or gov't aided primary schools. The result is, less parents will pay for private schools so spaces in private schools are enough to cover the remaining students.
However, as birth rate increases, everything you heard from the past few years will change. The chance to gain a seat thru EDB allocation will become more and more competitive. Any parents are smart and they will opt for safer routes to private schools. The reality is the maximum number of seats are quite fixed, then with the sudden increase of applicants, no schools can promise they can take in all students. The only popular school I know which can do that, is Pui Ching which match the exact number of students in kindergarten with primary. (So I should regret now of giving them up!)
Anyway, other girls' schools True Light which always guarantee admission to P1 and St. Clare's which started to make such promises recently, is only because they haven't reached the threshold that the number of kindergarten students will exceed their primary vancancy only. By the time things started to change and more and more students would rather choose to return, then even thry promise you now, the reality is they cannot take in all students. For what I know, Sacred Heart and True Light should be at max capacity already while St. Clare's may have some spare classrooms which they have not fully utilized yet. So, if the 100% secure is so important, then I would suggest parents to select St. Clare's, until they also consumed those spare classrooms. Of course, Pui Ching is the number one choice if 100% guarantee is the main concern.
Hope this piece of information help the parents to understand more for their decision.
Ian

English is not really important to me, the most important thing is a secure p.1 seat, seems the admission rate of shck to s&h primary is not that high, while st Clare seems to have a higher rate to st ...
