My understanding is the following:
DPS is what we called "小拔萃" since we were still children. At that time, DBS (boys school) has no primary section, but DGS already had primary section. So for boys who want to go to DBS, DPS is the choice, and DPS served the status of primary school associated with DBS. For girls, DGJS used to be associated with DGS. So DPS was mainly boys' first choice.
BUT...it was before 2005 [website said opening ceremony was in 2005, so I quote this year]
In 2005, DBS started its own primary section [located in the same campus as DBS]. Since then DPS started to lose it link with DBS. Since then when people mentioned primary school that has link with DBS, they mean DBSPS, and not DPS any more.
DPS is now a subsidized school, and cannot accept boys/girls at its own will. For DGJS and DBSPS, they are private schools and can select their own pupils. So they can keep the school at high standards by choosing pupils.
However, DPS is still a tough school to study. Maybe some parents can provide information on this aspect. |
