你意思指宣道&SFA吧?

每間學校總會有人派中中, SFA同宣道都會有。做家長既要佢地小朋友唔好去到果個位都叫盡左力。

而之前都有人講, 因TSL有FRENCH STUDENTS, 香港唔多學校有FRENCH比人讀, 所以佢地可選既學校有限, 而新直資就可以OFFER到比佢地。

希望你小朋友入到你鐘意既學校啦...D BACK UP既...不如留返比我呢D 1ST PRIORITY 啦!

恕我老實,話搵TSL做back up, 不如話搵St Paul co-ed 做back up lar.... 都重冇咁多人考, 比數機會重大啦, 而且話用st paul 做back up 聽落重威啦....

SPCC is more competitive than TSL in terms of applicants' quality, that's why he/she said that need TSL as back-up. SPCC, DBS, LS, MCS or DGS are their first choice................

I also apply DGJS and TSL for my girl
But how to determine the quality of applicant?
- Background?
- How many activity play by applicant?
- How many skill for the applicant?

Or just for the boys and girls themselves?

I think this is meaningless

And I believe if you apply the school, you will access you are achieve the school requirement that we only consider the % of chance.

In stead of the quality. Because nobody know the full picture of the quality of applicant.

Is not like the first round of "自行", it have clear for which marks will be success

Clam down TSL fans and parents.

I just try to explain the phenomenon why others take TSL as back up....... May be it's a taboo here, sorry about that.

My son didn't apply for TSL, so no past experience to treat it as back up. But we did take some good schools as back up and interview preparation before the target school interview. It's nothing wrong at the first place.

Tell you a true story about Cheung Chuk Shan College in HK East District. 4 years ago, I attended the admission talk and the principal said they are one of the best of the local schools, HKCEE and HKAL and University admission rate are flying colors, but still not the first choice of elite students. The best will opt for QC, BPS, SPCC, DGS & DBS......So what he does, he steers the school towards more all-rounded to prepare students for university admission with strong academic achievement + OLE under NSS and skip the interview process. He skips the process can reduce the workload of the teachers, from their experience, after screening workload, most of the elite won't come and just recruit those students join CCSC based on their rank order list + ECA and other achievements. From their longitundinal observation for many years, their students also perform very well in all exams. They also not recommend students sit for 10 subjects in HKCEE, max only 8 subjects, so no 10 As, no media coverage, no fans in BK ......an interesting school just focus on her educational vision.

Why to bother as second best in some parents' eye? The most important thing is " it's the best school for you and your kid............."

Very good point and I totally agreed with what you said.

I also picked TSL as a back up .......  The TSL fans & parents here seemed very sensitive.  It's logical I guess since no one would like to hear the negetive things.

最後cut off係3828，即係差不多22個先選一個，真係鍾意又好，back up又好，要入到真係好難。
如果有家長係當back up,真係希望到時大家可以盡快放返個位出黎，等waiting list既人可以係十二月底前有offer.因為十二月之後，所有waiting都會無效，要重新再考2nd phase了！到時真係仲難考呀！

BTW, I think TSL is very advanced in IT system.  It has a good security check to release information for the candidate.  

Compared to TSL, some schools just list names of all applicants for everyone to see.

Agree, just surprised to see the personal data being exposed in a reckless way by some other school. Though only kids' name being involved, it reflects how much the school concerns and reacts to the public issue of data protection.

And, TSL is doing really good in this area.

I'm just a little curious about why parents would select a school as back-up for their kids when they don't really like or know the school at the very beginning. The concept of "back-up" is already questionable since obviously it's not a school of your choice, then why would you apply for it and even if the school accept your kid, it should not be what you want, so why would you let your kid study in a "back-up" school??

I gone through the game last year, and I asked myself over and over again which are the schools I can truly let my kid to study in ... I found only 3 schools that I have interest and then focused only on those 3 schools. Finally my kid got into one of them and I'm glad that I can focus my time and energy into just the schools that can truly suit my kid, which also makes me understand more about the school and be confident about letting my kid to study there for the coming 6 years.

If all parents can make up their minds more clearly, then the game may not be as frustrating to everyone as it is now.

I'd say all three schools I chose would be my 1st choice (meaning I would let my kid to get into any three of them if accepted). But a backup would seemed to be secondary (meaning not sure whether it is really preferrable or not). Maybe we have different interpretation of the word "backup"
