Fatgoat made a few valid observations and raised a good question. The school fee is high but considering the teacher-student ratio and the number of NETs, it comes out as a reasonable deal. In fact, if not for the generous financial support from PLK and Mr Choi, the school would not have been made possible. By the way, Mr Choi is rather reputed for his generosity towards education.
True that the number of applications is HUGE. Quite a few of them take it as give-it-a-try-anyway without knowing much about the school, not to mention putting it as their first choice; though there are also quite a few who really love the school and would make every endeavour to get their kids in. I was in fact one of those who didn't know much about CKY when applying for my kid 4 years ago. However, after taking him through a couple of interviews (including some traditional locals and some new DSSs), I then made a decision that CKY should be the most suitable choice for my kid. Four years on, I am happy with the development of my kid so far, in particular, the two languages.
As to the question of exit plan, I heard some parents chose to switch to other local schools after Y6 (moving onto F1). It seems they are doing fine. |
