I also wonder why the math are so difficult. When I explain how to do the math logic with my kid, he is really eager to learn but he repeatly told me that he really not quite understand. Some exercise are actually 'good" as these are not just for drilling ( to some extend ) but the level seems too high for P1 student. I just worry now they have interest but if they face too much 'dissatification" during learning, their motivation will be decreased and loose the interest, this is the biggest issue.

PuiKuiFriend, could you also take a look ?

I have the same feeling. Even if the kids can do what they are required, it it would do them no good by pushing them to the limit.
Pushing them too hard may backfire. If they lose interest in learning, then it would be almost impossible turn them back.

I am wondering if the same class of students will stick together in one class from Grade 1 to Grade 12. Does anyone know that?

其實培僑的數學只是一般，不是很深。各家長可以问问朋友親人，傳統学校尤其名校，數學深很多呢！

你說的我也略知一二, 所以我上文也說 [我不是在說PKC的問題, 我說的是整個香港的教育課程問題, ...]

長大了誰不會買東西給錢和找零, 這些所謂數學真不必在孩子這麼小的時候就硬灌下去.

今天加減乘除做得滾瓜爛熟的孩子, 將來能否做好Additional Math或Pure Math根本就是兩回事.

I think the standard is OK, not too difficult to be honest...we have had experience with traditional and local school.

But my son also does not understand all of the concepts....then if we explain in Cantonese he's OK. Maybe it takes a little more time to learn these concepts in PTH.

您好！
很抱歉這幾天登陸不了親子王國，所以未能及時與各位分享經驗。我不知道你和家教會那位討論過要幫你反映數學的問題？也不知道您為何說“連家教會也不便反影這類問題”。
至於您說的數學深淺問題，從個人經驗來說（我的小孩也是PKC小學的）PKC的數學程度不算高。如果我們拿傳統學校的數學程度來比較PKC的數學一點也不深，而且只能說是一般。
至於以找零作為數學的教材，這是現代活動教學的方法，就是把知識結合生活，目的是便於學生吸收。而且也不需學生死記硬背。因此老師的出發點是可以理解的。

當然，每個人都有他的看法，也有發表感受的權利。這是家教會一貫尊重和重視的。

人們常說今天的孩子比以前的孩子聰明多了, 能學的東西也多了, 也許正因如此, 一般課程才會比幾十年前同年級的一般課程深.

今天的孩子比以前的孩子聰明嗎? 多是主觀願望罷了, 沒有機因突變, 這看法並不科學.

時代變了, 以前學毛筆字, 今天學視覺藝術, 以前學文言文, 今天學英文, 以前看水滸西遊, 今天看哈利波特, 以前學畫梅蘭竹菊下象棋, 今天學設計個人網頁打online game,以前看武俠小說學工夫, 今天玩ICQ學劍擊, 以前留長頭髮蝦蝦霸霸, 今天拍丸索K....

2000年前的先賢有孔孟老莊..., 今天往那裡找

以前有莎士比亞曹雪芹..., 今天...

時代是變了, 每個家庭只有一個至兩個孩子, 父母的緊張和學校的呼應, 把 [知識] 努力地塞進子女, 產生了一個前高官所說的 [高分低能] 學生, 反正 [消費者] 所要的, 旁人不能說甚麼, 也不應再說甚麼.

優秀的傳統文化在一片抱陳守舊聲中流失, 揠苗助長也在與時俱進下被廣泛推行.

分享罷了, 百花齊放百家爭鳴, 不必太過認真, 誰也不必以為真理在手.

I totally share that it is indeed not too difficult for the kids to learn this at P1.

Parents, on the one hand should not spoonfeed their kids, nevertheless must not spoil their child and underestimate their ability. Otherwise, I am afraid that it is the kids to suffer at last...

For helping those in need, we will do what we can asap.

I myself had the habit of walking into the bank and deposit in the designated account.

But when PTA and school are organizing similar fund raising activities, I would really like to see something educational to the kids on top of helping the unfortunate.

I visited eClass and found a notice about PTA and school are now organizing some fund raising activities for the disaster in Sichuan.
